SchoolMessenger to Launch
District Launches New Communication Tool

To make sure you’re receiving school and district news and alerts in the ways that work best for you, Molalla River School District is launching a new communications app from SchoolMessenger.

This will not be replacing Flash Alert for school closure and emergency announcements.  This communication tool will be used for general school notifications and attendance calling.  All families are encouraged to subscribe to Flash Alert. You can sign up HERE.

With the new SchoolMessenger app, you can personalize communications from your school or district into one centralized feed, with 24/7/365 access to important school notifications and news.

The app gives you access to school notifications of all types (voice, email, and soon - text messages) inside a single inbox. You can also change your contact preferences in the web app.

Signing up is easy. Use the email address your school has on file for you, and follow these steps:

  1. Go to: to use the web-based version from your internet browser, or download the SchoolMessenger mobile app from your app store.
  2. Click the Sign Up button at the top of the page.
  3. Enter your email address and create a password. A confirmation email will be sent to that email address.
  4. After authenticating via your email, return to SchoolMessenger and sign in using your email and password.

Your account for the web app is recognized on the mobile app, and vice-versa – so you can use whichever method of access is most convenient for you.

Once you’ve created your account, SchoolMessenger will automatically link the messages associated with your email address. You can then:

  • View the messages associated with your account.
  • Review the last 30 days-worth of messages, and
  • View your contact information and configure how you would like to receive notifications.

Device (push) notifications will trigger a badge or alert when you receive new communications from your school or the district. You can choose to receive device notifications in addition to, or instead of, the phone calls or emails you normally receive.

In Addition…

Opt-In to Text  Messaging!

Text Messaging is coming the evening of October 20th.

If you have a SMS text-capable devise number on record with your school you will receive an invitation text message from SchoolMessenger on October 20th.

The message you receive will come from our ‘short code’, 67587 and read similar to the following: “Molalla River SD messages.  Reply Y to subscribe or STOP to cancel.  Msg&data rates may apply.  Msg freq varies.  Visit for info.”  We encourage you to reply with “Y” or “Yes” when you receive such a verification message.  If you do not reply, you will not receive any further text messages from our schools.

If you opt-in, but later decide to opt-out, you may reply “STOP” to any message from a school or the district.

This process complies with wireless carrier requirements and protects against unsolicited text messages.  Please check with your wireless carrier for information about your mobile service plan and any possible charges related to text messaging.  We do not reimburse for any charges associated with sending or receiving text messages.  SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
